Ringstad Resort Vesterålen: Coming Home to Nature

Ringstad Resort is a small-scale retreat in Vesterålen, in the unspoilt north of Norway. We stayed here for a few days in the spring of 2025. This hidden gem invites you to slow down and feel truly at home in nature. From the facilities and sea-view rooms to the local cuisine, this is our experience.

Modern Facilities

Ringstad Resort offers modern, well-maintained facilities. The main building houses the reception, where the staff are happy to help and can also arrange excursions. There is also a lounge and a restaurant, with large windows overlooking the water. In summer, the spacious terrace is a lovely spot for a cup of coffee or a refreshing drink. For those who truly want to unwind, two outdoor hot tubs are available. A sauna will be added in the near future.

Rooms With Sea Views

The 24 comfortable double rooms offer unforgettable views of the sea. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking up to the soft light over the water. Comfort is well taken care of too: each room has a spacious bathroom with a rainfall shower and a television, although with views like these, we hardly felt the need to switch it on.

Local Cuisine

The restaurant is a lovely place to start the day at a relaxed pace, with an extensive breakfast buffet. In the evening, the focus is on simplicity and quality, with typical Norwegian dishes prepared using local ingredients. From time to time, the kitchen surprises guests with a special, such as a flavourful seafood platter. The staff are exceptionally friendly and provide impeccable service. Locals also enjoy dining here, sharing the serene and welcoming atmosphere with visitors.

Practical Tips for Your Stay at Ringstad Resort Vesterålen

What Is the Best Time to Visit Vesterålen?

From late May to mid-July, you can experience the midnight sun in Vesterålen. The long daylight hours are ideal for hiking and fully enjoying the natural surroundings. Those who hope to see the Northern Lights and enjoy snowy landscapes will also find plenty of charm in the winter months.

How Do You Get to Ringstad Resort?

We visited Vesterålen during a road trip through Northern Norway and flew directly to Evenes Airport, located about a three-hour drive from Ringstad Resort. Hiring a car is highly recommended, as it allows you to explore Vesterålen at your own pace and reach the accommodation easily. You can also extend your trip, for example with a visit to the popular Lofoten Islands or the rugged island of Senja.

What Should You Pack?

Be prepared for changing weather conditions, even in summer. A good waterproof jacket, sturdy walking shoes and warm clothing are essential. Depending on the season, a warm coat and possibly base layers are also worth bringing.

Who Is Ringstad Resort For?

Ringstad Resort is ideal for nature lovers, those seeking peace and tranquillity, and couples who enjoy staying in a remote location. Travellers looking for entertainment or a lively nightlife might find it less suited to their tastes. To fully appreciate the surroundings, we recommend a stay of around three nights at Ringstad Resort.
